Tim Johnson Postcard Collection

This collection, donated by FHSU Alum Tim Johnson, features postcards of various places and events, mainly in Kansas. Topics included are fairs, motels, hospitals, towns, the Garden of Eden in Lucas, and the Waconda Spring in Mitchell County are among items depicted in this collection. Some items in this collection may contain racially insensitive or offensive content.

This black and white photographic postcard features a reenactment of men fighting. Indigenous men are in the background on horses and the man on the left is shooting a gun. The men in the foreground are pointing guns at the men in the background. A woman and two children are on the ground. A man is on the ground behind a horse laying on the ground. Part of the "Perils of the Plains" set which are actual photos of a staged 1905 event for the NEA (National Editorial Association). The event took place on the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch near Bliss, Oklahoma.

Tables are set up in the middle of the field to hold the picked apples. Men and women stand on both sides of the tables to pack apples into wooden boxes. A man stands to the right with a simple machine used to secure the lids to the top of each packed box. The group has stopped working and is facing the camera.
