Description

This photo shows an overview of the marching band at Fort Hays State University performing on Lewis Field. The band is in a formation shaped like a football with extending lines at each point. The stands, topped with the press box, are filled with fans watching. An “FHSU” logo appears above each entrance tunnel in the stadium. Both the band and flag corps are facing towards the crowd and away from the photographer. There are thirteen members of the flag corps towards the front of the picture, wearing long, light colored prairie dresses, thick belts, and cavalry hats. Also referred to as the color guard, the flag twirlers and their flags rest towards the ground. Fifty band members are standing towards the back of the photo. The band is wearing bibbers, cavalry hats, and marching band jackets. From what is shown in the picture, students hold trumpets, sousaphones, flutes, drumming tom sets, and snare drums.
