Abstract
The purpose of this study was to study the philosophy, ideology, structure, and activities of The John Birch Society as a pressure group on the local level and not to condemn or condone the John Birch Society as an organization. One of the primary difficulties encountered in this study was the controversial nature of the John Birch Society itself. Public opinion and material available on the Society have been polarized to extreme positive and negative positions.
