Abstract
The goal of this study is to evaluate the public relations textbooks that are used in Saudi Arabia’s universities. The evaluation uses Public Relations Society of America suggestions and guidelines on the scope and content of undergraduate public relations textbooks. The methodology uses comparative analysis to contrast the sample textbooks’ topics and layout, with those set forth by the Public Relations Society of America. The study takes into account the traditional factors and country settings specific to Saudi Arabia. The goal is to shed light on the existing condition and to encourage the development of these textbooks to meet the needs of public relations students and researchers in Saudi Arabia. Curriculum development is also considered in the evaluation and in the recommended solutions. The main finding is that the textbooks are either at their earliest stages of development or outdated. They do not meet the contemporary needs of Saudi Arabia’s students and researchers needs.
