Abstract
For this body of work I wanted to explore and develop my impressions of Western Kansas and the use of aquatints and soft grounds. I like drawing and for me, printmaking is a natural extension. Printmaking and drawing are similar, but there are differences. Many effects and techniques that are difficult or impossible in drawing are available in printmaking. Also, the value range is broader for the printmaker. This is possible because the inks used in printmaking tend to be more intense than most drawing materials.
