Abstract
In the beginning God created – and made me in his own likeness in the process, endowing me with that same creative ability. As I produce paintings, and especially the paintings of this thesis series, I am continually aware of the inherent power, beauty, and enduring quality of the vegetation in the Earth. Each painting is a celebration of the life process and cycles which produce the various plant forms. Each painting is a celebration of the strength and vitality within each form, the capacity to live and grow to a fullness of form, and the capacity to bring forth more in the same character. Just as each plant has some variation from that of the parent plant so each painting is derivative of the previous paintings and at once a new painting.
