Abstract

[Taking as an example several of his plays, an attempt has been made to show various aspects of Mexican society according to its author Rodolfo Usigli. His desire to be the creator of a new Theater of Ideas, of the true Mexican Theater, makes him bring Mexican reality to the stage as the only means of exposing the lies and hypocrisy of a people that refuses to look in the mirror. The moral aspect is represented in different aspects; the popularized individual lie, especially in politics; the function of women, the erroneous Mexican belief that divorces love and sex, and the function of the small house. Religion is presented with faith serving as a basis and thus giving a new dimension to the fanaticism created around the Guadalupano Myth, which for so many years served as support for Mexican society since thanks to it Mexico's dependence on the Spanish Empire ceased to exist.]
