Abstract
The purpose of this study was twofold: First to investigate the readability level of a sample of materials from the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the Occupational Brief, and the Coping With Series. Second, to compare the Dale-Chall and the Fry Readability Formulas for checking readability levels of these samples. The findings were that the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the Occupational Brief were written at the upper high school and college readability level. The findings were that the Coping With Series included fifth through tenth grade readability level. When comparing readability levels of these materials as measured by the Dale-Chall and Fry readability formulas by using the t-test for related samples, differences were found to be insignificant.
