Abstract
Printmaking is very expressive and creative as an art, although too often dismissed with little serious attention given to the medium. The line is among the first in a succession of related steps in working out the whole composition of an etching. The printmaking method of which I am involved is line-etching. An etching is working a variety of designs into metal by acid. I use about 18 gauge copper and a hydrochloric acid solution. The action of the acid is as important in creating an etching as is drawing on the plate.
