Abstract
The objective of the present work is to formulate an equation to predict standard heats of formation of crystalline oxides. Useful variables in chemistry may be chosen from the set of properties of the elements. This set includes atomic radii, ionic radii, ionization energies, nuclear charge, and specific gravity. A complete set of data on heats of formation must be compiled to properly test the proposed equations. Since the equations are primarily empirical correlations, further studies elaborating the physical significance of individual terms will be attempted.
