Abstract
The purpose of this thesis has been to picture intricate detail, especially through line, but also through shape, motif, and shade in composition. I have chosen to explore this realm of the exquisite through four primary techniques, presented in this thesis abstract in four different series. Each series may appear to be a statement in itself, completely incongruent with either of the other three series; however, as one contemplates each series, he will discover that intricate and delicate design and the use of space and form relate the four series together and bring them to a common unity.
