Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify and to compare values emphasized in selected foreign readers. Plan of the Study: A total of twenty-three foreign beginning readers representing seventeen foreign countries were analyzed. Readers included in the study were from Ecuador, Bolivia, Guatemala, Panama, Ireland, Liberia, New Zealand, Japan, Thailand, Germany, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Denmark, Russia, India, and Iran. All were published since 1940 and most were of recent copyright. Content of each reader was summarized, and readers were compared as to values emphasized and degree of emphasis accorded each of these values.
