Abstract
Thirty-nine males and forty-six females were administered the EPPS, cards 1, 2, and 8 BM of Murray's Thematic Apperception Test, and card 6 of the Michigan Picture Test . When the results from the testing were obtained, male and female groups were divided into n Ach and no n Ach groups and the n Ach groups were divided in to those showing the presence of the fear of failure motive and those not showing it. These scores were then correlated with each other and with the cumulative and final exam grades. The females showed higher final exam scores in the n Ach-f. failure group; higher n Ach in the group which had the presence of f. failure; and a significant correlation between their EPPS ach scores and final exam scores. The combined male and female group showed higher final exam scores in the n Ach- f. failure group as opposed to the n Ach-no f. failure group.
