Abstract
This study was concerned with the techniques by which a speaker gains acceptance for his proposals. A. Craid Baird said: "The critic of speeches and speakers becomes a historian and a rhetorician--but he also remains a speech specialist." The two campaign speeches selected are typical of many given in behalf of Mr. Landon and Mr. Eisenhower by Mr. Hope. The purpose of the study was to analyze and evaluate the speeches on behalf of the Landon and Eisenhower agricultural platforms.
