Artist's Statement
For this piece, the assignment was to recreate a place we held dear to us. I decided to paint a few different places from a place of my childhood all in one. I wanted to use a simple style inspired by Ghibli Studios because the art impacted me a lot growing up. The idea overall was to make a light hearted, flourishing, nature scene made to idealize the memories I have of the place, shining above any darker associations with said place.
