Artist's Statement
The Williams-Garcia kitchen was intended to be the heart of the house, maintaining a balance between functionality and the family's passion for entertaining. It combines Mateo's biophilic elements with Camila's maximalist design with amenities like dual induction cooking, increased food storage, a scullery for discreet cleanup, a separate beverage station, and seating for three. With a mix of open shelves and hidden storage, spiceberry and honey cabinetry, and an elaborate backsplash to create a vivid yet well-balanced appearance, the design revolves around an open bay window to optimize natural light. The room is framed by a spacious island with a marble waterfall countertop that has an induction stove and a hidden downdraft hood. Surrounding spaces, such as a breakfast nook and beverage station, offer convenience and comfort. Hidden behind the cabinets, the combined pantry and scullery provide effective storage, prep space, and cleanup maintaining a seamless look. All things considered, the kitchen creates a customized, nature-inspired area that enhances both everyday life and social events by blending beauty and functionality.
