Artist's Statement
This abstract sculpture reimagines the Statue of Iris through a lens of transformation, fragility, and inner beauty. Rather than focusing on realistic form, I chose to simplify and distort the figure, allowing the silhouette to act as a frame for what exists within. The hollowed center becomes the focal point—an opening that reveals a geode-like interior, symbolizing the idea that what is inside us holds more depth and value than what is seen on the surface.
The use of textured materials, including crystal-like elements and fragmented pieces along the base, reinforces this concept of hidden beauty formed over time. Just like a geode, the exterior appears rough and imperfect, while the interior suggests growth, resilience, and something unexpectedly beautiful. The gold accents highlight moments of strength and healing, inspired by the idea that brokenness can be repaired in a way that makes something even more meaningful.
