Artist's Statement
This watercolor and ink still life is an indirect self portrait. My desk is where I spend a majority of my time. I work from home and relax at my desk. I aimed to show this dual usage through the objects and composition of the painting. The left side of the piece includes my work laptop, calendar, and notebook paper. The middle and the right of the composition are objects that bring me comfort, relaxation and nostalgia. On the main monitor is The Sims which is a video game that I have loved since I was 12. The smaller screen is my Nintendo Switch displaying Animal Crossing which brought me comfort in my undergrad years.
