Artist's Statement
This piece focuses on metamorphosis and the desire to fit in. It follows a frog who changes her appearance to resemble other animals in hopes of being accepted, but is repeatedly rejected because she no longer looks like herself. Through these changes, I wanted to show how trying to fit into different expectations can cause someone to lose their sense of identity. It is only when the frog stops changing and presents herself as she truly is that she is accepted. This piece reflects the importance of self-acceptance and the idea that we don’t need to change who we are to belong.
