Description

This color photograph depicts St. Joseph Catholic Church in Liebenthal, Kansas. The photo shows the southwest exterior of the church. The Church is built of limestone with a brick-red tile roof. The steeple’s roof is black shingles with a cross atop the spire. Three small flying buttresses attach to the steeple, along with one west-facing and one south-facing light-gray archway, each below a circular opening or oculus. A thin black metal picket fence with a brick-red cement foundation surrounds the church. Two brick-red doors are visible, a main door below the steeple and a smaller door to its right. A nine-paned arched window is above the main door. Two small light-gray archways are above the window. A black statue of a figure is inset above the side door. Six 21-paned arched windows face the south. Below the fourth from the left is a tile-roofed outcrop with two small inlaid arches.
