Description
This black and white photograph features a crowd of men and women standing around a hole at Picken Hall to plant a young tree in the 1900s to 1910s. The picture is taken in black and white and was likely taken from the second floor of Picken Hall. There is a young man standing in the hole. In the photo's background, a small tree trunk is visible at the photo’s top. To the left of the picture, a small bush has been planted with few leaves on its branches, and above it is another bush. Standing next to a woman in the crowd is a man holding up a plank of wood. The women wear long skirts and collared shirts. The women’s hair is all worn high, most with large bows. The men nearly all wear suits and ties.
