Description
This black and white photograph features three women at a Fort Hays State University candle-lighting ceremony in the 1970s. The photo is taken from slightly above the group’s heads and includes three women with short hair. Their heads are all leaning in towards each other in a close discussion. The most visible member is a young woman with short, flipped hair wearing a light-colored basketball jersey reading “Fort Hays State” along with the number “67.” She is holding a taper candle that is wrapped in a narrow satin ribbon. Another woman with short, cropped hair and an earring wears a light-colored patterned shirt, has her back to the camera, and is slightly blurred. The final person in the group is barely visible from behind the woman wearing the jersey and has glasses and a striped light-colored buttoned shirt. There are curtains in the background.
