Description
This black and white photograph shows a single female marching band performer in the foreground holding a piccolo to her mouth on a football field. The background is blurred beyond recognition, though the silhouettes of other performers are also visible. It is unclear if this was a deliberate choice or a camera focus error. The performer stands in the center of the frame with only her torso, head, and arms visible, wearing a traditional band uniform including a shako or band hat with a feather-like plume. The figure wears white gloves, gauntlets, and a uniform top with an ‘H’ shape in the upper center. The shirt is lined by decorative circular tokens or medallions on either side of the H shape, has black hemlines, and small shoulder pads.
