Description
The photo shows the Fort Hays State University band practicing on the football field. The stands are completely empty. Above the entrance tunnels is an "FHSU" logo. The band, flag corps, and director are facing the camera. There are twelve color guards, or flag girls, positioned behind the band wearing long prairie dresses, belts, and cavalry hats. The flag twirlers hold their flags in the air. The band students wear bibbers, cavalry hats, and marching band jackets. Sixty members of the band are lined up in a curved formation. There are trumpets, clarinets, flutes, cymbals, sousaphones, snare drums, drumming tom sets, trombones, and bass drums. The male band director stands on a podium in front of the band, near the sideline. He salutes the camera and wears a cavalry hat, pants, collared shirt, and a cape. A female baton twirler performs to the right of the director and wears a leotard and holds her baton.
