Description
Estimated 1970s Fort Hays Kansas State College Band Camp Practice Photograph. The black and white photo shows a gathering of teenage band students being conducted by an older man. Adolescents play in a concert band. Closest to the camera sits a girl in a striped sleeveless shirt who plays a flute. The rest of the row plays woodwind instruments. The curtains on the stage are raised, and all the stage lights are on. The ropes for the stage are visible along the back walls. There is a white backdrop behind the students. Large music folders extend above the metal music stands. The students sit on metal folding chairs, while the conductor stands on a raised platform. The conductor on the podium wears a short-sleeved button-down shirt with dark pants and holds a conductor’s baton.
