Description
A black-and-white photograph of a large crowd of roughly 200 men and women dancing in Sheridan Coliseum while celebrating Fort Hays Kansas State College’s 50th Anniversary in 1952. The women are wearing dresses, and the men are wearing suits and ties. On the back wall hangs a banner reading, "50th." Empty wooden auditorium seats with a railing running in front of them can be seen on the right side of the photograph. A group of men and women stand talking in the foreground as everyone else dances on the gym floor in the background. In the very back of the photo under the 50th banner there is a dance band playing on risers. The band is comprised of 16 to 20 members sitting and standing in 2 rows. To the right of the band a man plays a grand piano. A few spectators sit in the stadium seats above the gym floor.
