Description

This black and white photograph features a violin player at the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Fort Hays State University. Mildred Albertson Newport is playing the violin. Newport is wearing a two-piece satin suit with large, black buttons. She has a boutonniere of white carnations, fabricated leaves, and ribbon pinned to her right shoulder. The violin rests between her chin and left shoulder, as Newport holds the neck of the violin with her left hand and the bow in her right hand. The background features a “50th" on the bottom right corner of the board.
