Description
The black and white photograph was taken in Sheridan Coliseum on October 31, 1952. Four people are standing behind a stage prop that a fifth person is operating. The prop is an 8-foot-tall book with a moving page and edges embellished like a picture frame. The four people behind the prop are dressed in mid-1800s clothing and posing as a “picture” in the book. They are Buffalo Bill, General Forsyth, Calamity Jane, and Wild Bill Hickock. The first on the left is wearing a topcoat, a vest, plaid pants, a top hat, and a fake handlebar mustache. The second is wearing a double-breasted Civil War uniform with a slouch hat. The third is wearing a long, full skirt, a buttoned shirt, and a wide-brimmed hat. The fourth is wearing a tall cowboy hat, a shirt tied with a belt, and tall black boots. The man moving the prop is wearing a formal suit jacket, slacks, and dress shoes. The background shows tiered wooden auditorium seats and a large curtain draped on the wall.
