Description
The photograph was taken on October 31, 1952, in Sheridan Coliseum. Four people are standing behind a stage prop that a fifth person is operating. The prop is a giant 8-foot tall book with a moving page and edges embellished like a picture frame. The four people behind the prop are dressed in mid-1800s clothing and posing as a “picture” in the book. The first on the left is wearing a topcoat, a vest, plaid pants, a tophat, and a fake handlebar mustache. The second is wearing a double-breasted Civil War uniform with a slouch hat. The third is wearing a long, full skirt, a buttoned shirt, and a wide-brimmed hat. The fourth is wearing a tall cowboy hat, a shirt tied with a belt, and tall black boots. The man moving the prop is wearing a formal suit jacket, slacks, and dress shoes. The background shows tiered wooden auditorium seats and a large curtain draped on the wall.
