Description

1952 performance by the Bloomer Girls at the 50th Anniversary of Fort Hays Kansas State College. The black-and-white photograph depicts ten women standing in three lines on a stage erected in Sheridan Coliseum, with a light-colored skirt around the base and positioned behind a vase of gladiolus flowers on a tall plant stand. There is a horn speaker mounted on the upper right corner of the stage, facing away from the women. The women are dressed in a vintage sailor style with dark, long-sleeved shirts tucked into dark, puffy knee-length bloomers paired with light-colored ties, dark stockings, and white high-top sneakers. Each woman holds a dumbbell in each hand and has her arms raised above her head. Behind the women is a blank dark background with a light-colored curtain positioned at the far-left corner with two chairs pressed against the curtain.
