Abstract

Hungary has been known for giving birth to many talents, however most of these left the country before achieving fame. The loss of innovative capacity has been partly attributed to the way authority has been exercised. In the past decade, significant global political upheavals and challenges put a spotlight on East-Central Europe. Dr. Kowalik will highlight how the exercise of authority, combined with the social context, perpetuates dependence on authority, ultimately leading to a corrupted concept of leadership in the Hungarian context. Based on the findings, the presentation will include implications on how dependence and authoritarianism can be prevented.
