Abstract

Before retiring eight years ago, Drs. Curt and Christie Brungardt served as the architects of a campus culture where civic engagement became the university’s defining spirit. Their careers were dedicated to embedding these values into the heart of Fort Hays State University, transforming community leadership from a program into an institutional identity. At the invitation of the American Democracy Project, the Brungardts return to FHSU to lead a discussion connecting the themes of current civic leadership with the Brungardts’ decades of experience in institutional change and their ongoing vision for the "Citizen Leader."
