Abstract

It is the purpose of this study (1) to report a review of recent research dealing with the teaching of spelling from 1930 to the present with an emphasis given to the years 1945-1960, and (2) to present the implications of research in spelling in suggesting instructional procedure for development of more effective spelling programs.
