Abstract
The purpose of this study is to assign a unity to Worthington's career as a Special Agent in South America in order to establish a basis on which his services can be evaluated. It is the opinion of the writer that a thorough understanding of the role played by the United States in the Spanish-American independence movement cannot be attained without understanding the various men who were a part of that era.
