Abstract

A study of the electrolytic behaviour of this group of compounds was undertaken to gain some knowledge of a little known type of reaction of these compounds. The study was made, not so much in view of developing new uses for these compounds, as to gain a better understanding of their behavior under various conditions. Another reason for this investigation is the fact that chemical reduction by the usual methods is inconvenient. With this fact in mind, the inherent convenience of electrolytic methods made the study of the electrolytic behavior of the nitroparrffins worthy of investigation.
