Abstract
Apostrophe-S may seem a curious title for a show dedicated primarily to graphic design. It is generally understood that a work of art, belongs to its creator in a very intimate and unique way. As designers, however, what we create belongs not only to us, but to the client, the problem, and ultimately, the intended audience. The challenge is to maintain personal integrity in one’s art while creating a unique solution for the client. Rather than compromising my artistic sensibilities, I need to realize that the client comes to me because of a particular style and quality of work. My responsibility then, is to synthesize my approach with the requirements of the task at hand.
