Abstract
When I paint on surfaces built from layers of canvas, clothes, grass and acrylic mediums, I find myself working in a spontaneous manner. To me the feelings of freedom, emotion, and spontaneity are as important as the work and energy that I put into each piece. Having always been attracted to dark rich colored and fulling textured paintings. I find my acrylic paintings reflect this interest. The small collages are the result of my using the remaining paper palette from the acrylic painting. Although some of the female figure images come from my reading of Chinese history novels, especially those involving females, I’m not trying to convey any sort of feminism in these paintings.
