Abstract
The purpose of this thesis was to provide a guide for those who are interested in adopting the position of reenactment consultant by providing the procedures needed to undertake this goal. This study involved an investigation of the Plains region of the United States during the time period of 1823 to 1873. A review of literature was conducted that addressed the hobby of muzzle-loading, the days of the Santa Fe Trail, male and female roles, portrayal of these roles, and black powder guns of the Plains. As a result of the data gathered from this study, results are presented as well as a discussion of the conclusions, limitations of this research, and implications for further study.
