Abstract
Eighty-nine certified teachers of gifted and learning disabled students, employed by educational cooperatives in western Kansas participated in this study. The study employed the sue of questionnaires which were designed to assess the extent to which gifted/learning disabled (GLD) students are being identified and served in western Kansas and what the teacher perception is of that dual exceptionality. Results of the study indicate that teachers are aware of and have a positive attitude towards the GLD exceptionality. Although many teachers currently serve students who exhibit characteristics common to both exceptionalities, less than 1% of the student population included in the study have been labeled GLD.
