Abstract
The layering process has become not only the basis for my art but a symbol of my philosophy of life. Layering pictures the vast complexity of the universe with its many philosophical meanings. In order to express this I emphasize surface textures as an integral part of my paintings. To create desired effects my work evolves slowly while I build up the many layers of paint, gel media, and collage material. These are woven together to produce a rich appearance. Color also becomes prominent, along with light, both a part of the unseen energy I sense around me. I paint on a variety of materials, using acrylic paint on unstretched canvas, rag, museum or Whatman board.
