Abstract
Thirty-two adults between the ages of 21 and 25, who were classified as educable mentally retarded while attending a public school served by the Sedgwick County Area Educational Services Interlocal Cooperative In Goddard, Kansas, were administered a 21 Item questionnaire. This questionnaire sought to determine the level of self-sufficiency reached by the subjects since leaving school. The questionnaire was modified from the Vermont Follow-up Structured Survey Instrument used by Hasazi, Gordon, and Roe (1985). Results Indicate 66% of the subjects were employed at the time of the study. Forty-three percent of those subjects were paid minimum wage. The mean projected salary of the employed subjects was $8357.14 per year.
