Abstract

The performance of the children’s show Wiley and Hairy Man was the final product of this thesis. Before this end was accomplished, all aspects of a theatre production were confronted and successfully dealt with. These aspects included auditions, rehearsals, publicity, designs, budget, and the actual performance. The show was performed March 8, 9, and 10 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon for children in Hays and the surrounding communities. Those children invited to attend the two performances held during the week were the fourth and fifth graders from the seven public schools and the one parochial school in and around Hays. The weekend performance was open to the general public with an admission fee of $1.50 charged to all. It is the belief of the author that everyone involved in the production, from the technical staff to the audience members, benefited from the experience. The author that everyone involved in the production, from the technical staff to the audience members benefited from the experience.
