Abstract

“Images In Formal Space” began as an exercise in reduction. I devoted myself to reevaluating traditional spatial relationships and limiting the recession of space. Through systematic elimination of the normal techniques of three-dimensional illusion, such as linear perspective, logical spatial sequences, and eventually all modeling and shading devices, my pictorial surface was reduced to highly contrasted shapes.
