Abstract

Since beginning work in clay, I have been fascinated with the internal aspects of ceramic pieces and the fact that they are a reversal of the external space. I have often thought of the possibilities of interior forms which could add something to the overall piece. Some years ago, I created a number of pieces dealing with this idea. However, these pieces were not as successful as I had hoped. They basically could be divided into two groups; one in which the interiors were not readily obvious to the observer; the second group was basically a contrast of surfaces and not of interior and exterior shapes.
