Abstract
In searching for a vehicle to express my artistic statement I chose an adapted version of an Australian bird. A little color, some expressive line, and proper placement creates an image in which I enjoy discovering over and over again. By repeating the same bird in my thesis work, I felt free to explore one theme to its natural conclusion. This freedom led me in some unexpected directions which included mixed media on paper, collage, porcelain, and bisque fired stoneware. Drawing on clay added an extra dimension to my present work, and will have as much emphasis as drawing on paper in the near future.
