Abstract
One main problem of abstract painting has been that of subject matter without the object itself. Subject, imagery, and theory of abstract painting have been put in and taken out of the mainstream of American abstract painting within the situation of art and it’s historians. Painting, for myself and other artists as well, is a series of journeys into the unknown, not by chance but knowingly, with risk, so growth can happen and so that something can be found. ‘Abstract space: an act of discovery’ is the departure for my art and therefore, the concept stated and defended in this thesis.
