Abstract
The jury is perhaps the most discussed and the least understood aspect of the American system of jurisprudence. The origin and development of the jury system are shrouded in mystery. Although most historians defend their own pet theories as to the origin of the jury, it is safe to say that no one has actually proven its parentage.
