Abstract
The purposes of this study were: 1. To determine what audio-visual reading media are owned or are available to the schools participating in this survey. 2. To determine the use reading instructors were making of these machines. 3. To learn the preferences for specific mechanical audio-visual reading media by western Kansas teachers of secondary or post-secondary reading classes. 4. To determine what class records have been kept in western Kansas schools to show the student reading gains, by use of mechanical audio-visual media. 5. To determine what preparation western Kansas reading improvement teachers in secondary and post-secondary schools have had for use of mechanical audio-visual media in classroom work.
