Abstract

Every artist faces a selective dichotomy with each new essay into creative art; some choose to sublimate one to the other, while others decry that such a selective decision ever existed. This dichotomy consists of the two major arms of creative work: pure design or social commentary. If one chooses to inquire into the nature of art and the artist, one may even discover that many of the avant-garde movements began not as essays into pure art but as a direct result of the artists’ involvement with the state of his world and an almost prescient view of the future.
