Abstract
This study concerns the organization of an introductory course in costuming through the use of relevant information and materials available and justifies the methods used in teaching the course. Four major aspects of theatre costuming will be examined: costume history, costume design, costume construction, and the practical application of these principles to theatre productions. This study concerns not only these four divisions of costuming in their individual scope, but also concerns their inter-relationships that provide an overall concept of costuming. The study will be divided into four major parts; 1) Course objectives; 2) Instructional methods; 3) Student activities involving the practical application of costuming principles; and 4) Course evaluation.
